Minors

The Individualized Major Program offers students the opportunity to create individualized minors on topics not otherwise available at Indiana University. If you're satisfied with your current major but would like to explore another interest on the side, the IMP minor may be a good fit for you.

IMP minors consist of at least 15 credit hours of coursework, which may include independent-study and internship credit. You can choose a topic that takes advantage of an existing cluster of courses, such as the College of Arts and Sciences' annual Themester, or define your own topic that combines coursework from multiple departments.

Some examples of individualized minors include:

  • Sustainability Education
  • Applied Statistics
  • Environmental Humanities
  • Japanese Manga
  • Food Studies

Students who are already pursuing an IMP major are not eligible to add an IMP minor. If you're admitted to the IMP minor and later decide to apply for an IMP major, you may do so, but will be required to drop the minor.

Ready to get started? Learn more about our admission process or contact the IMP office to discuss your ideas.
